BitDefender - AntiVirus 2009
I've had BitDefender running on my computer for several years now, without any problems. I chose it after much research and testing it against other antivirus software including McAfee and Norton. It provides advanced proactive protection against viruses, spyware, phishing attacks and identity theft, without slowing down your PC! (Hint: Slowdowns are very common with antivirus software.) One thing I love is the little "File zone" monitor that shows you scanning activity in real-time, so you know the software is working in the background (and when). Among a host of features, it automatically scans email, chat and other files, and has a "game mode" for gamers.

MyInfo - Personal Information Organizer
I use this software every day. It's one tool I could not live without! Seriously. Basically, it helps you capture, organize and edit your ideas and information in a centralized place ... so you'll never lose information again. I use it to save and organize passwords (ever have trouble remembering or locating them?) ... to-do lists, how-to-do-things, business ideas, Internet research (find yourself searching for the same info over and over again on the Internet?). The core feature (and what I use the most) is the document tree, which allows multiple tiers/heirarchy in an outline format. You can move or edit anything, anytime. And Search for anything. I can't even estimate the additional hours of productivity I've gained by having a central, organized way to save and access my ideas and personal data.

FireFox - Better Than Internet Explorer, More Secure
If you haven't yet switched to the Firefox web browser, you should do so now. Internet Explorer (IE) has its strengths, but it still has security flaws and for useability, Firefox wins hands down. One of the many thing that are better is that you won't get incomplete downloads as with IE. So, to increase the security of your computer while surfing the Internet, ditch IE and go for Firefox. You can't uninstall IE (at least, as far as I know) but you can make Firefox your default web browser.
